Labyrinth

Labyrinth

Spring Branch Presbyterian’s Prayer Labyrinth is on the north side of the property, in the area between the storage units, Education Building, and the Sanctuary. It was installed in 2013 as part of Ethan Mitchell’s Eagle Scout Project, and was dedicated in Memory of Helen Hogg.

SBPC sponsors services and devotionals at the Labyrinth throughout the liturgical year. It is open for prayer and meditation everyday.

What is the Labyrinth?

The Labyrinth is a single, spiraling path that leads to a central area. The path in is the path out. The labyrinth is not a maze and is not intended to trick or confuse you. There is no “right” way to walk the labyrinth, though typically you start at the entrance, follow the path to the center, and then follow the same path out. The beauty of this symbol is how it can mean different things to different people. Diverse paths find expression on this unifying way. Allow the experience to be a metaphor for your life and discover what this ancient path means for you today.

Guidelines for the Walk

There is no right or wrong way to walk or move in a labyrinth. Do what is right and natural for you. Allow yourself to go to the pace your body wants. There will be comings and goings on the Labyrinth as we start eh walk at different times and meet people on the path. Do what feels natural to accommodate or pass others.
